I want you,  to know  that I’ve been where you probably are right now! At this very moment your reading this and thinking can the Raw and Living Foods lifestyle work for me? Is it the right path for me?

Well let me say this. I found it to be the right path for me and so have hundreds thousands of others. And while I can’t  guarantee that you will get the same results that I and the hundreds of thousands of people who have taken this step have gotten. I can guarantee that it will change your life and for the better! There’s a  saying among us, in the Raw Food world “Change your diet and change you life!” And I’ve found this to be so very true!

So How did I got started on the RAW Food Diet and Lifestyle?

Well let’s see, my story began when about 7 years ago I found myself deeply depressed! I was working very long hours (12-16) and had gained a lot of weight (35-37 lbs), I’m 5′ 5 1/2″ and was weighting from 174-182 lbs.

I had gained this weight eating very poorly, you know (the SAD), lots of sugary drinks and processed foods. I drank energy drinks full of caffeine and sugar to get up and get started, and to keep me going throughout the night. And I ate lots of chips, cookies, pastries, lunch meats and microwaveable foods, because they were quick and easy to make! Lot’s of empty calories plenty of sugar, and little to no nutrition.

Fast forward a bit (about 2 yrs), my whole body ached most of the time. I had lower back pain, my right arm and shoulder kept going numb on me, and when it wasn’t numb there was pain from shoulder down to the end of my scapula. I kept a bottle of Tylenol 1200 ml and Advil with me all the time, and when I walked my joints ached pop like crazy.

I was chronically constipated (it took me 30-50 mins to have a bowl movement) I was bleeding from  stomach ulcers, and from anal hemorrhoids.  I was  also told by a doctor after a work physical that I was anemic.

Looking back I know now that my health had been slowly declining for years. When my health finally hit its lowest point, I was 39 and had a list of chronic ailments longer than the older people I knew! I kept this to myself, I hid the pain and the depression with pain pills and lots of caffeine and sugar. I had terrible heartburn every day, gas, bloating, painful, bloody bowel movements (really painful), I was stressed out, pain shot all over my body, I was 48 –50 lbs over weight (depending on the day), fatigued, major mood swings, depression, horrible lower back issues (from being chronically constipated), allergies, Migraine head aches (so bad that I could not see) and irritable bowel syndrome, and to top it off I was loosing teeth do to loss of bone mass in my jaws (all that sugar was robbing my bones of minerals), I  was loosing teeth in both my Maxilla and Mandible…I was a mess! The fact that it didn’t happen all at once (it crept up so slowly over time), I didn’t even know how bad off I was.

It seemed that many people around me had some similar issues and complaints (except maybe not all together), so I accepted it as just a part of being a hard working man. I’m just getting older (I would think to myself). I’d bet many of you have had the same thoughts.

I did started to use herbs for me head aches and pain. They were ok and I’d see some improvements, but not anywhere near enough! And there was still the fact that I had become a sugar Junky.  I mean I had to have it to function or I just felt bad! No matter how disciplined I was. I just couldn’t shake the the sugar blues. I really didn’t know that sugar in all it’s many form was hidden in almost every thing I was eating, (this one of my biggest problems.)

One morning after coming home from prayer, I had some thing to eat and with in 20 minutes I started to fill bad, and it got worse by the minute. I started throwing up bile. I became so weak that I could not stand or call for help, I crawled to the bathroom where I laid throwing up and dry heaving
for about 25-30 minutes, until my brother found me on the floor. He picked me up and my family took me to the hospital.

Once at the hospital, they opened me up at the naval and put a small tube with a camera on the end of it to find out what the problem was. They also did ex-rays of my abdomen . They found out  that my intestine had tied itself in a knot, block the pathway, and stop the oxygen rich blood from flowing. They had to operate and remove two feet of dead and dying intestine and gave me about 8-12 hours to live if I didn’t have the surgery! I was out cold so my mother had to give the permission to operate.

Being in a hospital is no fun!

When I awoke after the surgery I found myself in  a hospital bed with i.v. tubes in my arm, a catheter attached to me (you know where) and a very large band aid on my abdomen up to just below my Xiphoid. I was in a lot of pain and could not get up or even sit up! Soon after that, a nurse came in and gave me drugs so I quickly drifted off to sleep. The next time I awakened, I was very cold and could not stop shivering which in turn made my abdomen tighten and that was really painful, but I could not do a thing about it. I was still kind of out of it and was not present enough to find the call button so I had to lie there shivering until some one came to check on me. A nurse finally came, saw me shivering and wormed up some blankets and put them over me! I was shivering so bad that I could hardly get out the words thank you!

The next time I woke up there was a nurse changing my catheter bag which by the way, was very embarrassing for me. And to make matters worse,  a doctor came in with a crowd of other people carrying clip boards. The doctor then pulls down my covers, began to lift up my gown, which had gotten stuck to the band aid (that really hurt by the way) and all this with a room full of young women (new doctors, I was in a teaching hospital), and he didn’t even say good morning or explain who he was or what he was about to do!

This REALLY pissed me off and I grabbed his arm in one hand and his tie in my other and began pulling him down to me. Luckily  there was one male with him, an Asian man who saw the look on my face and came to help. He said good morning, let me help you with that. I  let go of the doctor and as he was looking at me as if I was the crazy one, the other doctor pulled the covers back up and asked could they take a look! I thanked him and asked him to help me open the gown from the top, they looked and left.

Needless to say the next time that doctor and I met, he apologized for his lack of manners, then the doctor who had performed the surgery walked in, checked on his work, and asked me how I felt. I told him that I was in pain and very hungry (I hadn’t eaten any thing for three days.) He told me that I could not have any thing but broth, no solid foods until they were sure that my intestines were working again and that he would order some thing for the pain (this meant no eats until I passed gas and here comes the morphine!)

What do hospitals and McDonald’s have in common?
Answer:
They both have some of the most nutritionally poor, mucus causing, acid forming things that people put in their mouths and call food! I, on the other hand see them for what they are. Drugs masquerading as foods!

How ever I digress. After receiving  a morphine drip, it was time for my bowl of broth. In reality, what it was was a package of what look to me like one of the broth and seasoning packs for top Ramón noodles. But let me tell you, I was so hungry that I gulped it down so fast that I didn’t  taste anything but the burp! So when I saw the nurse I asked if I could get another, she said sure and brought it right up to me. This time I  taste it, and it was awful! She brought up a new bowel and a coffee pot of hot water,  and several broth packs.

After I was able to eat solid foods,  I was given a chose of red dye #40 Jell-O, Jell-O pudding, canned mixed fruit in syrup or canned pears in heavy syrup.  There was  some thing that looked like meat loaf  and this pale looking thing they called chicken breast, white bread or wheat and canned green beans. And to drink I could have milk, apple juice , orange juice, or tap water. Let me tell you the tap water tasted so bad, like it had been sitting in a rust pipe for days!

Now most people might ask , well what’s wrong with those chose’s. And if you were to have asked me back then I would have said that there was nothing wrong with them. But now knowing better I can tell you that cooked and processed foods do not aid the body in healing it self, but rather hinder it on it’s path to wellness!

How being near death and a bad hospital stay saved me from a life of chronic illness!
When my stay was over I was cut loose with no instruction on how I should care for myself, no eating guidelines of and sort! I also had other problems with my intestine that were not even addressed, nor was that fact that I had been on antibiotics for about a week so my immune system would be very weak at best. I was only told to keep the staple clean and dry, not to left anything no stair climbing and make an appointment to have them taken out in a week.

When I got home and began to eat the same foods that I had been eating before, my intestines rebelled! When I would have any cooked foods, I would get diarrhea, and within an hour I would be running to the rest room. Every thing gave me gas (very bad), and my hemorrhoids became very inflamed and very painful(there was also a lot of bleeding).

So what was I to do now? I knew that I NEVER wanted to go back to the hospital or see another doctor ever again (that was for sure!)  I also knew that I never want to have to depend on any for my health and well-being! So it was off to the internet to get some ideas. And then  it hit me, when I was a young boy my mother and a very good friend of our family had started learning about herb from a man who was Master herbalist in Chicago. I remembered going to one of the classes with my mom. The teacher sent everyone out side into the park to find a different herb. When my mom was sent out I went with her to helped  to find her herb (I thought that was Super cool!)  So I decided to search on Google for some book on natural healing with herbs. I headed over to Amazon and read the reviews for the book which inspired me to order them.

Now while I was waiting on my books to come, I found the nearest health food store that had herbs and went for a visit. While there, walking around I found my first herb book (The Little Herb Encyclopedia by Jack Ritchason N.D.) I bought the book and a few herbs in capsule  form and headed home to immerse myself  in my new book. I started by looking up some of the many symptoms  that I had and the herbs that could help me with them. I found several herb that would help me with some of my symptoms and rushed out to buy them.

OK, I thought to myself, I’m going to do what ever I have to heal myself,  just as long as it helped me to feel better. So I arranged the list in the order I felt were my biggest problems:

  • Fibromyalgia (ME/CFS/FM)
  • Prostatistis
  • Fatigued (ME/CFS/FM)
  • Hemorrhoids (painful, bloody bowel movements)
  • chronic lower back pain
  • Migraine head aches
  • Chronic Sinus Infections
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Symptoms of Ulcerative colitis
  • chronic constipation
  • Chronic Heartburn
  • Depression
  • Major mood swings
  • Stressed out
  • Bloating
  • Gas
  • Severely over weight/obese  (48-50 lbs over weight)
  • Allergies
  • Teeth loss
  • lose of bone mass in my jaws

So began my study of herbs and herbalism. I started taking herbs instead of drugs to alleviate my symptoms. In truth all I did was switch out drug allopathy for herbal  allopathy . This worked for a time but soon, some of the problem began to increase, I had not solved my problems, merely quieted them. So I began to look into other natural means. This lead me to Bernard Jensen D.C., Ph.D.,  Nutritionist and his great book “Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management” and also one of his students Richard Anderson, N.D., N.M.D. and his books “Cleanse & Purify Thyself” also on bowel cleansing…(very important books/Priceless!) This is where I began to see some changes but, I had not yet under stood that real change would come only through the changing of my diet, so it was still like putting a band aid on a gaping wound (you may slow the bleeding but your not out of the woods yet!)

So I continued  my search for the Holy Grail of Natural Healing. I loved learning about and working with herbs. I was even able to help many other people but, I came to know that herbs alone were not the answer. Bowel cleansing gave me new energy and some times a euphoric feeling but, it too was sort lib. Then one day while at the herbs store going through some of the books, I found three books by a man named Professor Arnold Ehret. I pick up one named “Mucusless Diet Healing System,” I began to read it right there, it was very interesting  and pulled me in, so I bought it and took it home to read. I read that book all the way through that night and the next day I went back and got his other two book “Physical Fitness thru a Superior Diet, Fasting and Dietetics” and “Rational Fasting.” I never knew that what I ate played such a huge roll in my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being! Now when I started putting bowel cleansing and the Mucusless Diet into use, people thought I was crazy! But I knew the truth about it and paid them no mind!

The opening of my eyes to nutrition.

The above books, so opened my eye’s to the fact that it was the foods that I was consuming that were the leading causes of my many symptom! So I began to make my study of nutrition and food. I purchased book such as Nutritional Herbology, Staying Health with Nutrition, the Nutrition Almanac, Contemporary Nutrition, Nutrition and Physical Degeneration, Prescription for Nutritional Healing, and many others ( simply game changing information!)

How I got start on Raw Food Diet.

Well fast forward about 2 years. Now this is where I began to see some great results. One day I was on YouTube looking at videos on food and nutrition and some how came across a video by David Wolfe (Great speaker BTW), he was talking about RAW Smoothies, Super Foods, Longevity, Cacao, Things that I had not heard of before. So back to Google I wet typed in Raw Food and David Wolfe to do  further research . And within second a new world had been opened up to me, I stayed up all night reading all I could find on the subject and I was hooked. It just made so much since.

So the next day I began my raw foods journey. I put my self on 75% all RAW  foods for a week. I felt so good before the week was over I increased to 80% all RAW Foods! Next I needed books on how to get started (I know I started before I got the books, kind of backward I know!) The first books that I found was Brigitte Mars’s “RAWSOME!” and Dr Jensen’s book on Juicing Therapy, I loved them! I went to the story and got lots of fruits and veggies. Then I pulled out my Juicer and started Juicing and making plenty salads (I was still buying processed dressing though.) I got immediate result from the juicing and eating of of those Raw fruits and some veggies! I started dropping weight and better yet was feeling energized! It was a great feeling!

Too much Too fast!

The first two weeks were great, I started loosing weight and that felt great!the third week was when the cleaning really began and I started to have headaches and get lots of gas and bloating.  If I stood up too fast I would get a head rush, and I was feeling week. This kind of scared me, my eye were blood red and then yellow and I was getting constipated and I was have huge cravings for sweets and cheese (I LOVED cheese BTW.) So what did I do, I stopped! Yep! Sure did. I didn’t stop readying though, and as I read Arnold Ehret’s story again and Brigitte Mars book, I realized that these were cleaning reaction a I was in know danger just needed to slow down a bit and take enemas to help flush the toxins out!

Let the Healing Begin!

I began all over again with the Raw and Living Foods diet starting slower, this time being gentle with my body! I began at 60% then, 75% then, 85%, and I held at 85% for the the rest of my first year. I had to realize that these toxin would take some time to be released, after all, I had been building them up over 39 years and to think that I was going to heal all that was wrong with me in a few week, heck even a few month would be unrealistic. It’s like your an archeologist and your tools of the trade are Organic, whole, Raw and Living Foods. And before you can get to each layer of treasures, you have to remove the debris and be careful not to cause a cave in! There could be many layers on your journey to vibrant health and well-being What was important was that I made the decision to  take control of my own natural health and well-being! When I did that, things started to heal. by the end of the first two years:

    • Fibromyalgia (Gone)
    • Prostatistis began to heal itself
    • I was no longer Fatigued
    • the pain and bleeding of my Hemorrhoids  (gone)
    • chronic lower back pain (gone)
    • Migraine head aches (gone)
    • Chronic Sinus Infections (gone)
    • Irritable bowel syndrome (gone)
    • Symptoms of Ulcerative colitis (Gone)
    • chronic constipation (gone)
    • Chronic Heartburn (gone)
    • Depression (lifted)
    • Major mood swings (mostly gone)
    • Stressed out (greatly reduced)
    • Lost 30 lbs that year
    • Allergies (mostly gone)
    • Teeth loss (halted)
    • lose of bone mass in my jaws (halted)

Practicing Conscious Eating

Over the months to come,  I  learned that eating cook is a big addiction and NOT a necessity! While there are a few foods that are absorbed better being cook,  the vast majority best benefit us RAW and Living! I learned what foods made me feel good and which made me feel bad or not so good, which foods were the easiest for my body to digest and what didn’t digest to well! I learned to listen to my body, and I learned “conscious eating” for health and vitality, not just to get full!

I found out that cooking denature and devalues the foods we consume. The Max Planck Institute for Nutrition Physiology in Germany did a study and found that cooking proteins devalues it’s bio-availability (changes their molecular structure so they cannot function properly) by 50% as compared to uncooked proteins. And other key nutrients are also devalued as well.

I’ve also learn the importance’s of proper food  combining and eating living foods for their enzymes and life giving energy they confer to us! I’ve also learned the importance of probiotics and other supplements, and though they can never take the place of Raw living Foods, we need them in these times of deficient soil, toxic air, and water. So learning to supplement my Raw Food Diet with herbs and Super Foods has aided in the healing and strengthening of my gut and immune system!Which in turn help me to deal better with stress better.

Luckily, I’ve found these principles to be not just a “diet” but a lifestyle  all involving the mind, body and the spirit.  When you feed your body you are also feeding your mind and your mind control all the functions of the body subconsciously. I had some knowledge of this but really  hadn’t put any thing into practice.  Now you better believe that I choose my food fully conscious of what  my goal are for what I use to nourish me!  I’ve jumped in, figured out a handful of recipes and easy meals and never plan to go back to my old way of eating.  This has changed my out look on life and the world!

Yes, it takes some planning, shopping and prep but the rewards are ell worth the work! And after the initial cleansing phase, I had more energy than I know what to do with and making prepping veggies, making  salads and sprouting doesn’t  seem like a hardship. I now coach people through this process when I have the time. It’s been a learning experience and a real challenge, but the returns have been far greater (ABUNDENT LIFE, energy, vitality, mental clarity, Radiance, joy, beauty and much more…

Please, if you really want to see some real positive changes in your life, true natural healing, take control of your own health and well-being, you can do it without drugs! Just keep coming back to this web site, join the mailing list and take action on what you will learn here!

Hi Amir,
My name is Ruba and i live in Melbourne Australia. I am 28 years old and for years i have been a yo yo dieter, ever since i was a child. I got married 7 years ago and my weight has just gone up and down ever since, but from the day i got married i am now 40 kilos more then i was on my wedding day. I love my husband and have a 1 year old child. I recently had a miscarrige and it sent me into a depression. I have been talking to a psychologist and been exercising to help me get through it. I am feeling more positive now but my psychologist thinks that i need to learn to value myself more. I agree with her. In search of myself i came across eating clean and found you on twitter. Your story is really inspiring to me and i want to know if you have any information about how i can get into my head that eating better will change my outlook to life. i dont want to obsess or it to be a diet because i cant diet anymore. i want to want to eat better not for it to be a chore. I want it to be because i want to look after myself better. i want to start putting myself first.
please any help you can provide would be great.

best wishes
Ruba

Hello Ruba, and thank you for the kind words. And I want you to know that I can relate, in my case I got divorced, got slapped with heavy child support and my children move far away from me. I had to work from 12-18 hours a day 5-6 days a week, missing my children and all the work and no rest, set me up for depression and lots of stress. I want you to know that I will do all that I can to help!

I’ve been there, and I know how hard it can be to put yourself first and put greater value in your own well-being!
I had to come close to death in order for me to get the picture. That’s when I decided that I never wanted to be
a patient in any hospital ever again if I could help it!

In my healing process, I found the RAW Living Foods Lifestyle not only is helping in healing my body but, my mind and spirit as well! Starting this lifestyle was like opening a door to a new world, a whole new way of thinking and being! You really become aware of so many things that are interconnected, things that you wouldn’t think are related at all. And I wanted to share this with as many people as I could and that’s why I have started this eZine, I want to help others to Thrive in their life!

Thanks again for your connection and I am sorry it took so long for me to get this reply out to you. And I promise to do my best to do better not time!

This is Amir Living in The RAWSomeness!
Peace2U!
